0 Beauty of Himachal - 2

Tour-O-Nation Holidays is here writing up about different not so famous destinations in india, we are premium tour operators taking you to the soul of real India. Here in this blog we tell you about different places in India which are not known to many of you. Beauty of Himachal reveals about the culture and Beauty of few non-famous places in Himachal Pradesh.

well friends, in our last post Beauty of Himachal -1 we have told you about the local festival. Here we are before you again with the details of the festival.

This festival is celebrated in a village called "SARPARA" which is about 40kms away from Rampur, shimla dist. and the festival is named "SARPARA MELA" ( mela means festival ).

Jal Devatha

Jal Devatha is the goddess that the locals worship here.

This is monsoon season, so the journey to this place is an amazing experience, we come across some scenic beauties on the way to sarpara.

But there is always a risk travelling in this route during monsoon. that is Boulders falling, during rains there is always danger of boulders falling, so we have to be very carefull while driving in this route, in this season.

Comming back to the festival, there are lots and lots of interesting things in this festival. Locals say, that the goddess(Jal Devtha) has nine sons, and each of them has settled in different villages around here. and all of those will be bought to SARPARA during this fest. There goddess then taken to a sacred well in the village where the goddess take a dip in water
Sacred well where the idols of gods take dip

Interesting thing is, it is said that the Jal Devtha(goddess) enters into one of the priests and speaks through him, she invites her sons from other villages and also she tells out through priest when to enter into water and when to come out....and yeah, we have seen the whole thing that happens here.

this is how the goddess is taken to the sacred well by priests for idols to take dip.

And the day Tour-O-Nation went SARPARA is a special day, it was also the opening of the new Temple.
This is the new temple.

People here celebrate this festival with their pure hearts, they dance, they sing, offer prayers.. we can also taste some of the indian spice foods here in this festivals. The temple authorities also offer food for all the people who visit festival. It is a very nice and sacred feeling visiting here, the people, place and the environment around here.

Tour-O-Nation has now decided to stay here for some time and visit some other places around here which are not known much yet soo interesting. so, keep visiting us, we will come up with more places in Himachal Pradesh.

cheers||
